Hi all. So I decided to try a Free Sample Experiment. When you search the internet it’s amazing how many FREE things are out there for the taking. You just have to ask for it! Anything from makeup, to detergents, to food. I thought that the experiment would be fun and I’m curious to see the outcome and how long it would take to get the samples (plus, save some money). Anyone wanna play along?
We’ve been doing okay with saving money except I had to buy some new clothes for work which put us in the negative of about $100. Grocery shopping has been under $100 every week but more like $85-$90 a week instead of $70 (FAIL). I have to work harder on this. As for my clothes, the reason why I had to buy new clothes is that a few months ago I went through all of my clothes and either threw them away or donated them. Problem was, I never replaced them which caused a severe lack in my work wardrobe so the other day I went on the New York & Company website (which is one of my favorite places to shop) and there were a lot of items on sale! I used my Ebates app and got $7.50 back and also FREE shipping! I’m excited to receive some new blouses for work and freshen things up a bit. It is MUCH NEEDED!
I’ve saved about $80 a month on gas since I started working at my new job which is much closer to my house. The only thing that takes a chunk out of my gas tank is that I drive about 60 miles round trip for bowling once a week. And that’s fine, I enjoy bowling ….most of the time ;).
How’s everyone’s week going?
Till next time…I’ll see ya soon!

Yesterday I went food shopping at Winn Dixie and went over my goal of only spending $70 on groceries. See my total and savings below:
I received $.25 back from Ibotta and 1,541 points toward a $5.00 Amazon gift card on Fetch Rewards which brought my total to $85.45! I also completed a Winn Dixie survey which will earn me $5 off of my next trip of $40 or more. I could have done so much better but it’s not easy when you’ve been slacking on couponing lately and trying to get back on track. Next week I’ll have to try and make up for overspending this week.
Final analysis of my trip:
- I spent $15.45 over my goal of $70 a week (UGH)
- I am now eligible for an Amazon gift card (you can choose other stores but I’m an Amazon freak) with points from a few weeks of shopping
- I’ve been doing Swagbucks surveys and am almost at a total where I am eligible for a $5.00 gift card to Amazon or other select stores.
Another thing that I did this weekend was check balances on some of our gift cards that we received for our birthdays and Christmas. We had a total of $55 in gift cards!
Do you have gift cards that you’ve forgotten about? Time to check them!
Till next time..I’ll see ya soon!
I’ve been clipping coupons and using coupon apps for a while now. I admit, I slack at it sometimes but I really need to start paying more attention as I am spending way too much money on food for hubby and I. Today I went food shopping and spent $109.29! WHAT! Granted, I purchased a lot of food, used coupons, planned my trip, got many items buy one get one free, used my coupon apps and got about $1.75 back but I KNOW that I could do better! I’m just lazy.
I have to go back to treating couponing and searching for deals a part time job. When I used to do this I saved so much money. There is no reason why I should be spending this kind of money on food A WEEK for 2 people! Nonsense!!!
As of today, I am making a goal of spending $70 a week on groceries. This will include clipping coupons, digital coupons, Ibotta and Fetch Rewards . If you haven’t signed up for these two apps, YOU SHOULD so you can save extra money on things that you may already buy on a weekly basis.
Who wants to do this challenge with me?
Till next time…I’ll see ya soon!
